To Be The Man...
I introduce to the world a man by the name of DeAndre Wilkins, but we'll just call him Dre for short. To him, professional wrestling was nothing more than a good idea to him. If you were to ask Dre three years ago about professional wrestling, he would probably have laughed in your face. As a matter of fact, three years ago, Dre would have done a lot of things. There was nobody to big or no drug too much for dre to get some kind of power over. He was certainly a bona fide hustler by nature. After doing his time behind bars though, Dre was out and was looking to set up shop in a new territory. That brings us to today.
With Dre running what is the closest to the straight and narrow for him, he has embarked on a new journey. He feels that his dominance in the streets needs to know no bounds, so he is upping his game and stepping inside of the ring. He finally found a company willing to sign him and he couldn't be happier. NXT is in for quite a ride now as king of the Streets, Dre Wilkins has arrived and is looking to make an impact. There's no guns, no girls, no cash, or no jewelry, but what NXT offers Dre is far better than all of those things combined... Power... Respect... Two things everybody wants but only a very few can actually obtain, that is what Dre seeks. This week, the path to the top begins with the first step, it begins with Dre's first match, it begins with...
...Ross Edwards.

Date: June 28, 2010 Time: 8:15 PM Location: New Orleans, Louisiana Theme to Listen To: "No Problems" by Lil' Scrappy
A cell phone rings, opening our scene in quite a sudden way. Dre Wilkins reaches out, scooping the phone off of the small coffee table, answering the phone when he sees that it's his agent and best friend, Omar "Rich Kid" Redding is calling.
"What's good wit you O? I know you ain't calling me without some good news right?" Dre said as he brought the phone to his ear, standing up and taking a look through his blinds outside. "Come on outside..." is all the voice said before hanging up abruptly. Dre shakes his head, closes his phone, and grabs his hat before walking out his front door and down the eight concrete steps between him and Omar who was at the bottom, leaning onto the hood of his black Monte Carlo. Once Dre gets to the bottom of the stairs, his phone is back in his pocet, his blue fitted Yankees hat is on and a smirk appears on his face as he shakes hands with Omar.
"The fact that you came to my house this late tells me one of two things. Either you've got a contract on the way or a load that you need to find a home for. How we doin it this time homeboy?" Dre asked as he joined Omar at the hood of the car. While at the hood of the car, Omar and Dre notice a small blue Honda Civic creeping by, watching them with some heavy eyes. Omar stands up straight, lifting his shirt to show off the gun sitting in his waistband, causing the car to speed off. Omar concealed his weapon once more before rejoining Dre over the stack of papers set on the hood of the car. Dre got his contract after all.
"If you put your autograph on this stack of papers youngblood, you'll be a wrestler from this moment on. Now I know you've been wantin to go legit for a minute now. This right here is how you can do it. if you sign this contract right here and now, you and I will be nothing more than business partners. If you sign this contract, you will be in a wrestling ring in a couple weeks instead of running any of my property anywhere ya feel me?" Omar took a moment to think about exactly what this meant. "Now Dre, I need you to hear me on this. Never in all my life have a met a kid so real, so true to himself and what he wants that he doesn't let anybody get in his way. Now I hate to lose a soldier like that. Now I know you ain't gonna be hustlin or anything like that while you're off chasing the dream, but that doesn't mean you need to forget where you came from you know? I'm proud of you for handling your business Dre. Now what are you about to do?"
The tone in Omar's voice was all too apparent for Dre to see. Omar wanted his cut for going through with this. The one thing that has always haunted Dre about this gang life that he got himself into? It's not so easy to get out of. Dre nods his head, shaking Omar's hand then turning to lean over and quickly sign that contract, taking that definitive step towards chasing his goals. After signing the contract, Dre sets the pen on top then stands up, looking at Omar and smirking. Omar puts the contract back in a yellow envelope then heads back towards the driver's side of the car to take off and make it official. Dre walks with him around the car. As they get around the front end of the car, that same blue Civic from early pulls back by slowly, rolling down their window as they near Dre and Omar, quickly pointing a 9mm out the window and spraying it out the window. Dre takes off for cover, dodging all of the bullets that he can, hoping he doesn't get hit. Dre finally gets to cover, ducking down behind a nearby minivan. After the 8 shots rang out, the tires squealed and in a cloud of smoke, that blue Civic disappeared into the night. Dre moved back around the van, out into the street to see Omar laying in a pool of blood under his driver's side door. Dre rushes over, grabbing Omar's head and checking to see if he's alive. Tears well up in Dre's eyes as Omar's blood continues to pour, staining Dre's white tanktop and blue sweat pants. Dre looks around, hoping to see anybody who could be of assisance, but sure enough, wasn't nobody out tonight. it didn't take long before Dre heard sirens beginning to approach. Right now that was the last thing he needed, not with his past. As the sirens grew louder, Dre stood up, grabbing the envelope containing his NXT contract and taking off into the house.
Once inside, Dre dropped the contract on the coffee table, then takes off his shirt as he heads towards the back of the house. As he walks into his bedroom, Dre grabs another white tanktop and a pair of baby blue UNC basketball shorts. It doesn't take long for Dre to catch a shower, washing Omar's blood off of his body, then hopping out and changing into the new outfit. Dre throws his bloody clothes in the washer and starts it up before moving back to the living room, taking a seat on the couch and processing exactly what happened. Tears filled his eyes and his body began to shake as a young woman stumbles out of the bedroom, looking half awake in a shirt three sizes too big for her. She makes her way to the couch beside Dre, hugging him and kissing his cheek, taking a moment to notice his pain. "Oh my god, Baby! What's wrong? What happened?"
It took Dre a few moments, but half a laugh comes out as he reaches over, picking up the yellow enveleope sloyly and holding it tightly in his hands. "I got good news and I got bad news, what do you... What do you want to know first?" That's all he could muster up at the moment, his tears slowling up, but not enough for his liking. "On one hand, Omar got me my wrestling contract right here, already signed." The woman starts to look excited for Dre, but it short lived as Dre continues. "The only problem is Omar literally gave his life for it... Omar just got shot while we were discussing the contract. Now I have to hold true to my word. I told him I'd bring him in on the money I make. Now, that's exactly what I'm going to do. i'll take 25% of whatever I make and cut it off to his family... it's the right thing to do... Isn't it?"
Dre spent the rest of the night on the edge of that couch, staring at that yellow envelope as Omar was being taken on his last ride just fifty feet away... Such is the way of the streets... Such is the life of DeAndre.
-:- On Camera -:-
Date: June 29, 2010 Time: 1:26 PM Location: Magnolia Projects in New Orleans, Louisiana
The camera opens up to what couldn't be more perfect for a picture of the ghetto in it's purest form. Magnolia Housing Projects in New Orelans is filled with gangsters, dope dealers, hustlers, liars, and thieves. Standing among them today, dressed in an all blue attire is the young, fresh face of Dre Wilkins. They all watch timidly as Dre makes his way to the center of the complex, finding his way standing in what appears to be a stone circle. The habitants of the complex begin to slowly crowd around Dre as the camera focuses in on him. A sly smirk appears on his face as he shrugs his shoulders and looks at the camera.
Dre Wilkins: That's right, I went there. You see, I just signed my contract last night. This morning, I'm waking up to find out that I'm booked for the first ever show of NXT, and in the main event no less. Now either Omar really came through on his deal for me, or the dudes in charge of this spot know the superstars when they see them. No matter what the reasoning is, here I am, ready to get my hands dirty and make an impact as soon as possible. This is going to be better than I had thought.
The citizens of the projects continue to gather around Dre as he stands in the stone circle, looking around at them as he continues on.
Dre Wilkins: Allow me to introduce myself to all of you right here and now. My name is Dre Wilkins and I'm from right here in the 504, New Orleans. Nobody out there knows what I'm good at yet, but that's about to pass. You see, the very first time that NXT goes live, I'm going to be the one headlining the night, capping off my debut to this business with a win over this guy named Ross Edwards. Oh yeah, as it turns out, your boy ain't that bad at reading after all. Yeah, I've been keeping up with what's going on around the place, I've been kept up to date. The first thing you need to know if you EVER hope to know anything about me? I'm not one for games. If I tell you I don't like you, don't come ask me why. Just know that I don't like you and leave it at that. It's those irritating ass bugs that need to get squashed.
More people continue to crowd Dre, but that doesn't slow him down in the slightest. As a matter of fact, the more people that show up in the crowd, the more behind his own words Dre starts to act.
Dre Wilkins: Rule number two, if you're ever going to be squaring up against me, be well aware that I have done my homework on you. Don't think I'm just some uneducated thug hopping into the ring expecting a street fight. Nah, I know what's up with this business. I've seen the lengths a man will go to for it. That applies to you this week Ross. I know you weren't expecting to play me for a fool and just treat me like I'm some random joe out of the gutter were you? Nah brother, in fact, it's quite the opposite. I'm here to stake my claim as the new face of the next generation of this business. There's two things in this world that mean anything to me at all. I'm all about that money, and that power. If I get my hands on one, I'll easily secure the other. That begins because you Ross, it's nothing personal. You are merely the means to my next pay day you feel me? I'm not here to break your spirits or anything, I'm just putting you on notice.
The crowd now grows more, but they are actually beginning to get behind Dre slightly. Dre continues to turn on his southern ghetto charm as he continues to speak.
Dre Wilkins: Ross Edwards dude, listen to me. I'm not telling you're not going to be somebody some day dude. I'm merely stating that you aren't going to become somebody at my expense. I can't just be alright with that you know? What I will do is assume that you have what it takes to bring me a challenge Ross. Do I believe you can beat me? Not on your life. Do I believe that you're going to make it one hell of a night for me to debut? You'd be stupid not to honestly. Ross Edwards, I will go on record right now as saying that I'm not going to totally annihilate your ass in that ring. I'm going to give you everything I've got however, knowing full well that you don't have it in you to keep up. Not even if you wanted to. You've never met someone who breathes this business like I do. I've seen the dark and light side of the coin Ross. Honestly, neither side looks very promising, so it's up to me to see to it that I succeed. I'm taking my destiny into my own hands, leaving you as nothing more than collateral damage. Don't be mad though Ross, after all, nobody in this business will be able to say they were the first to suffer from a bad case of Dre Day after you. Keep that in mind Ross, it will prove useful to you. there's a blue lining in every cloud brother, it's up to you to find it.
The crowd is beginning to chat Dre's name, causing him to stand proudly in the center of them, holding his arms out to his sides as an arrogant smirk now makes it's way onto his lips.
Dre Wilkins: There's nothing left to say cowboy, I've pretty much laid it out as best as I can. I look forward to seeing what you've got to say, but I warn you Ross. Be careful what you let spill from your lips because I have no problem shoving those same words down your throat when I get the chance. trust me on that. In the mean time bro, kick back, drink you whatever it is you white people drink these days, and just relax. I've got everything under control. You just need to make sure you show up alright? I'll take care of the rest.
Dre laughs and turns, walking through the crowd and slowly making his way out of the housing complex as the scene slowly fades to black.

Making the Impossible, Possible! A Ross Edwards Role Play Written By: Brian & Aida//-- Prologue --\\ Every child dreams a dream that often times seems unobtainable. Whether it was to be an astronaut, a professional athlete or even to simply follow in the footsteps of someone they looked up to. The story is no different for NXT Rookie, Ross Edwards. Just like any other kid, his dream was to live the boyhood dream of becoming a professional wrestler. After growing up watching the greats of the business such as Shawn Dreamer, Sean Mason, Brian Blades and so many others he was determined to live his dream. He was discovered while working as a bouncer in a night club in Seattle, Washington when was approached by NXT Founder, Mason Creed. Creed told him that he had a certain look that he was after for his wrestling promotion. After a few meetings he was signed to a developmental contract where he would work several dates for the company to see if he has what it takes. Creed is obviously impressed with Edwards so far since he was immediately placed into the spotlight earning the main event slot against Dre Wilkins. Does Edwards have the raw talent to prove this is where he belongs or will Wilkins run over him as he stated? \\-- End Prologue --//Scene 1: The Arrival Date: July 12th, 2010 Time: Late Afternoon Venue: Outside the MGM Grand Characters Involved: NXT Security, Aliza Lenora, Yours Truly The scene opens up outside of the MGM Grand in the fabulous city of Las Vegas, Nevada. The crowd starting to form as the debut live event of the new NXT promotion invades later on tonight. To the left of the area the crowd is forming is tightly sealed with security and members of the local law enforcement agencies. For those of you who don’t know this is the exclusive entrance for the NXT performers. The jet black 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS belonging to the rookie, Ross Edwards, roars onto the scene. The tight security stops the vehicle at the check point to do the normal checks of identification and such. This is where our cameras pick up at. An out of shape security worker approaches the dark tinted window of the car and taps softly to get the attention of Mr. Edwards. The window slowly glides down its track to reveal the rookie looking towards him with a cocky grin on his face. His pearly white teeth shine through his smile as the guard gives him the run down. ~ NXT Security Officer ~ Good afternoon, sir, before I can let you any further I need to know your name and I need to see some identification. Ross keeps the cocky smirk etched upon his face hearing the words the guard spoke to him. The black shades shield his expression in his eyes. Most would speculate that it would contain a look of hatred; that is until he suddenly removed them and hooked them upon his short collar. His voice rang throughout the area as he spoke to the guard.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ That’s no problem at all. The name is Ross, Ross Edwards. I’m one of the performers who makes sure your salary is paid. Ross looks up towards the leather visor attached to the roof of his vintage American car. He reaches up with his right arm and removes his driver’s license and hands it to the guard. //-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ I believe this is the next thing you were looking for. As you can see I truly am who I said I was and I’m sure that they are expecting me to arrive on time. After all there is a very attractive woman who is waiting patiently on me to show up. She seems to have captured my interest and is in dire need to speak with me about certain things that have happened before the show begins. So if everything is in order I must certainly be on my way. The guard looks over everything and then hands Ross back his I.D. He nods his head after listening to what was just explained to him. A smile quickly fell over his face. ~ NXT Security Officer ~ Everything seems to be in order, Mr. Edwards. The star parking is the second entrance on the left and everything should be marked from there. //-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ Thank you! Be careful out here in this heat, a guy like you could die out here. Ross laughed as he drove off towards the star parking. Within moments he had his car parked and was outside standing next to the trunk digging out his bag. He felt a vibration from his phone that was tucked away in the left pocket of his blue jeans. Pulling it out he looked at the call display. The name across the screen belonged to the lovely Aliza. A cool smile fell upon his face as he flipped open the phone and pressed it to his ear.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ If I’m greeted like this every time I arrive then I can certainly get used to showing up. I’m in the building, babe. I’ll meet up with you in just a few minutes and we’ll talk everything over. The conversation is a bit one sided on our end because all we can hear are the words being spoken by Ross. After a few moments he closes the phone and tucks it away back into his pocket. He walks slowly towards the building. Once inside he wastes little time, his mission was simple, he had to meet with Aliza. He would soon find himself standing in front of her dressing room door. He took a deep breath before knocking. Even after everything that has happened between the two he still got nervous when he talks to her. A woman’s love does strange things to the chemistry of a man’s body. He brushed some strands of hair from his face as he waited calmly for her to answer. Slowly the door opens and Ross steps inside to be greeted by a warm hug from Aliza, but after separating it was apparent that something was a bit off about her as she didn’t have her normal air of confidence or much of her gorgeous smile showing. Ross had a look of concern fall upon his face once he noticed that she wasn’t acting like herself.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\Sweetheart, is everything alright? You don’t seem like yourself and you sounded frantic on the phone earlier as well. Ross reached out taking her left hand in his right. He flashed a feint smile hoping he would be able to cheer her up or at the very least find out what was wrong. Aliza sighed a little, trying her best to cheer up since she feels a bit bad that the way she was handling her situation has Ross concerned. She then slowly raises her head to look up at him, doing her best to hide how she is feeling but still open enough to try and vent out what has her so troubled. ~+”Glory Personified” Aliza Lenora+~ I guess I’m not that good at hiding am I sweety? Alright, well you see I looked at the card for the first live show and while I’m happy for you being in the main event and I just know you’ll do fantastic, my match doesn’t have me feeling as good, or even excited...or anything really aside from frustrated.Ross listened closely as she began to explain what had her acting the way she was. The smile slowly faded from his face as he tried to piece the puzzle together.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\I might not be scoring any points here but aside from knowing you had a match I don’t really know much else about it other than you are facing Rose DarkFlame. I’ve seen you when you train, you don’t have anything to worry about. So you want to tell me why this match has you frustrated? ~+”Glory Personified” Aliza Lenora+~Well it has nothing to do with fighting Rose at all, I know she is basically nothing compared to me, it’s just that....they have us facing off in a mud wrestling match. They’re making me wear an itty bitty bikini so I can get down and dirty with that crazy woman and while I know I can win no problem, I just feel so...so eww about it, especially knowing that so many people are going to be watching for the wrong reasons.Aliza looks away from Ross again, her frustration starting to show a bit more now as she huffs and lowers her head again, obviously feeling some sense of shame over the match they made for her. Ross took a step closer placing his arms around her to pull her body in against his. //-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\I understand how you feel about what they’re doing. To be perfectly honest, I’m not exactly thrilled about it. At any rate, no matter what happens all anyone can ask out of you is to do your best. Even when you are forced to do something you don’t want to do. No matter what happens, I’ll always be proud of you. Maybe between the two of us we can come up with something a little more fitting for your style instead of a bikini....even though the bikini has my interest. Ross laughed a little as he joked with her. He raised his head up a little before moving his hand to her chin to turn her head so she was looking in his eyes. //-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\We’ll get through this, I promise. Afterwards, you’ll be one step closer to proving why you are the best in the world. Aliza couldn’t help but smile after hearing Ross’ supportive words, the idea of him sticking by her and trying to help her through this warming her heart. ~+”Glory Personified” Aliza Lenora+~This is what I adore about you, I can be in any sort of mess and you find a way to make me feel good again and even add some extra confidence to me which I thought wasn’t possible. As far as helping me find something more my style goes, I do normally wear bikinis outside when the time calls for it, it’s just the thought of rolling around, getting all dirty in a tiny bikini in the mud kind of has me uncomfortable. But you’re right, after I take care of Rose in this match, they won’t be able to deny me a true match like I deserve.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ There’s that never say die attitude I was waiting on. Look at it like this, just because it’s a mud wrestling match, that doesn’t mean you have to look at it as a negative. She will be just as humiliated about being there as you only you have the advantage to make it that much worse. This is not only your chance to prove why you belong here but it’s also your chance to make sure this girl never forgets who you are. Ross stared into her eyes for a second before slowly leaning forward and softly pressing his lips to hers.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ Besides, she doesn’t have me waiting on her in the back either. ~+”Glory Personified” Aliza Lenora+~ Actually according to what I heard she likes getting all down and dirty which is gross but again what do you expect from someone like her. I will be doing all I can to humiliate her though, maybe I’ll even take out my frustrations on her and somehow turn this icky wood inducing joke match to something pretty brutal. I may not be all dirty like her but I definitely know how to be rough.Aliza smirks after her statement, laughing a bit as her mind is now getting use to the match concept she’s been placed in.~+”Glory Personified” Aliza Lenora+~ Plus you’re right, this will be my chance to prove I belong and once I outshine the rest of the women here, I’ll be sure to have gold come my way and the same goes for you too honey, you got a message to send too against some...umm I forgot his name, but some guy.Ross laughed after hearing her comments about not only her match but when she spoke of the man he would be facing. After hearing her say she forgot his name it had even managed to escape him as well.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ His name isn’t really all that important. The only thing that matters is that we both walk out of this event with our arms raised in triumph. Then maybe I can take you home and you can show me some of those moves. Ross gave her a soft kiss once again before backing away with a smile on his face.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ We’ve got a little time to kill, why don’t we go have some fun? Aliza’s smile widens after hearing Ross’ question, the idea of some fun enticing her quite a bit.~+”Glory Personified” Aliza Lenora+~ I believe some fun is definitely possible right now honey, especially after how better you’ve made me feel, I think you’re entitled to a reward for that.Aliza giggles a little bit, winking at Ross. Ross takes her into his arms as the cameras slowly back out of the room leaving the scene to fade to darkness.Scene 2: The Shoot Date: July 12th, 2010 Time: A few hours before show time. Character’s Involved: Yours Truly Our cameras find “The Future” Ross Edwards stowed away in a remote area of the building. Obviously getting his mindset ready for the match tonight where he has been given the chance to showcase his talent and prove his status. Even this close to show time his exterior says that he is calm, cool and collected. Living in the moment he hasn’t even noticed the camera crew watching just yet. Thinking about the talk he had with Aliza after arriving on the set he still had that smile on his face. There was a respectful fear surrounding him as well. Some might say it was the sudden realization of performing live in front of the thousands of fans for the first time starting to get to him. Stage fright as it is known to others. That just doesn’t seem to be his style. He doesn’t strike anyone as the type to become fearful when the time comes to rise up to fight to make an impact. Turning around he finally faces the cameras that have been waiting ever so patiently for him. Now is the time to strike fear into the hearts of the weak. To discredit all accusations made by the man he is set to face in a matter of hours. A deep sigh escapes his breath, beads of sweat ball up on his forehead and drip down and crash on the ground. At first his words are soft but his tone was firm.//-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\ A few years ago if someone would have come to me and said I’d be in the spot I am at this very moment I would have laughed in their face. Then I met a great hero of mine, a man by the name of Shawn Dreamer. He told me that even in times when things seem to be virtually impossible…..anything is possible. I can’t explain enough what a great feeling it is to stand face to face with your childhood hero and have him tell you that you can in fact make your dream a reality. Dre Wilkins made his intentions clear, he wants to showcase what he’s made of just as much as I do. He says he is taking his destiny in his own hands and I’m simply collateral damage? I may not have any professional ring time under my belt but I’ve trained with the best. I’ve been in the ring with two pioneers of this industry. Men such as the great Shawn Dreamer and the legendary Brian Blades. This is the moment I’ve dreamed about all my life. Dre told the world that he put me on notice, all I have to say to him is I’m not hard to find. Pretty boys with a mouth are a dime a dozen. Granted what he seems to lack in talent he certainly bargains for more with that mouth of his. It’s not about who can out talk who, these guys are looking to showcase talent. They want to see who belongs where when it comes time to put this thing on national television. While Dre Wilkins is alongside me in the main event tonight, when it comes time for the real deal, he’ll simply be a curtain jerker. Ross cracks a bit of a cocky grin as he takes a seat in front of the camera. He keeps it etched to his face as he continues to speak. //-- The Future | Ross Edwards --\\Hey Dre, after I humiliate you tonight, you might pay a visit to Roxas Schieffer, I heard it’s pretty easy to have your demands met by her. Maybe you can do a favor or two for her and she’ll make sure you get the spots you think you deserve. I promise you that I will not only out wrestle you tonight, I’ll out class you, I’ll out smart you and I will certainly outshine you. You are looking at the future of this very industry. In my future, Dre Wilkins doesn’t even exist! It’s nothing personal I’m just simply here to prove that I am the best. I’m here to prove that I deserve to be the top dog. I’m here to show that world that I am the best damn thing going in the world today and that road unfortunately starts with you, Dre Wilkins. It’s nothing personal; sometimes the weak have to be sacrificed so that the strong can survive. I’m here to live my dream. The only thing that matters is that I succeed and you fail. You say that it’s your destiny to prove everything I just said wrong. You call it fate, I simply say that there is no fate but what we make! Tonight my fate starts with a victory over you and it puts me one step closer to where I deserve to be. My goal is to become the first ever NXT World Champion, I’ll send you a post card when I get there! Ross continued his cold stare into the camera. Tonight wasn’t about winning and losing wasn’t an option. Tonight is simply about making an impact. It’s about earning your spots and garnering some credibility with your name. One thing is certain, it will be a war when these two behemoths step into the squared circle. It’s certainly not something you want to miss. The future is still unwritten, the destiny isn’t predetermined and fate will be decided. Tune in to see who falls victim where. # EORP # Word Count: 3262
